MSP Research Seminar Series: Positivism and the Scientific Method

The Manila Studies Program is conducting an ongoing series of seminars on research and publication. The seminars aim to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of CAS faculty especially those who are thesis advisers through thorough discussion of one research topic each session.

Other research topics for the month of August shall be as follows:

August 24, 2011 - Research Paradigm 1: Positivism and the Scientific Method
August 31, 2011 - Research Paradigm 2: Constructivism and Interpretive research

Both topics will be discussed by Dr. Leonardo Estacio Jr, chairman of the Department of Behavioral Sciences. The seminars will be held at the UP CAS Alumni Room, 10:00am-11:30am.

MSP Seminar Series: Developing the research proposal and Funding Opportunities for Research

The Manila Studies Program is inviting all CAS Faculty and thesis students to attend the series of seminars and workshops on research and publication which will start on August 2011 until March of 2012. Seminar on Health Informatics (National Telehealth Center)

This seminar provides an overview of current developments, issues and challenges in the emerging field of health informatics, which includes nursing informatics. It seeks to emphasize the use of information and communication technology in providing quality health care services to individuals, family and community. The seminar covers various underlying themes including proper use of information technology, appropriate data entry,... data privacy concerns, electronic health record, ethical issues, among others.
